On the Issues

While the Constitution should protect freedom during and after the COVID-19 crisis, it cannot do so if it is ignored. We must focus on electing legislators who respect and vow to defend the Constitution, and then we must hold them accountable.

The Kentucky General Assembly deals with the serious issues that affect our Commonwealth. I hope to help solve these issues on behalf of my fellow residents who expect legislators to use common sense and sound judgment. I will work every day to defend our rights and advocate for conservative policies that will unleash the freedom and innovation needed to put our economy back on track.

CUT TAXES AND RED TAPE

I’ve studied and practiced law for more than 3 decades, and I understand the legislative process. In addition, my former federal tax law practice prepared me to help guide the legislature in further revising Kentucky’s tax code to promote a better business climate. Because I also worked for U.S. Senator Rand Paul and with the Republican Party, I formed valuable relationships with various state senators and representatives that will help me hit the ground running when I start work in Frankfort.

STIMULATE JOB CREATION AND BRING BACK OUR STRONG ECONOMY

The COVID-19 crisis has brought our nation, state, and county to a crossroad. The direction we take now will determine our future. When I become the state representative from Shelby County, I will propose and support policies that will help pull us out of this crisis and create the following:

  • A Vibrant Economy and High Standard of Living for all, fueled by energy and innovation that will be unleashed when freedom is further expanded and government overreach is curtailed.
  • A Prosperous Community that advances the income and well-being of every resident, every local business, and every industry sector by promoting sound economic and tax policies.
  • A Healthy Citizenry that protects and finds value in all life, nurtures each other, cherishes shared traditions, and welcomes new ideas; that fosters individual success, encourages health and fitness, and builds better interpersonal relationships; that creates a sense of community by building neighborhoods, schools, churches, and civic organizations to ensure all needs are met; and that takes pride in building a more prosperous county and state together, without focusing on differences or on who should receive credit.
  • A Healthy Environment that protects and preserves our natural resources, while creating and nurturing new ways of doing things that improve methodologies without wasting assets or unduly burdening people.

EXPAND LIBERTY, NOT GOVERNMENT

I understand the importance of protecting and expanding individual liberty and holding the power of the government in check. While we need government to protect life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, “We the People” must recognize that the only legitimate power the government has to carry out that function comes from us. We must insist that our elected officials understand the concept set forth in our nation’s Declaration of Independence that “governments are instituted among men” for the purpose of securing these rights, and we must insist that they reject the notion that government possesses unlimited power. Our state and federal Constitutions ensure that we are governed by law and not by the whims of men, and that principle must be revived.

The creative power of a citizenry is unleashed when freedom is protected. Economies stagnate when government mandates replace the will of the people. When I become the state representative for Shelby County, I will protect and defend the national and state constitutions and the timeless principles of freedom they embody. If those documents are followed, personal liberty will flourish, and our economy will thrive.

STOP THE PENSION CRISIS FROM BANKRUPTING US

Every Governor and Legislature from 1943 to 2012 has played a role in digging our great Commonwealth into a $43 billion hole. Now we are tasked with moving past blame to begin righting the wrongs of prior leadership. I hope constituents who don’t know me well will discover that I am a tenacious problem-solver who is guided by faith and the principles found in the United States Constitution. I will approach the pension issue with a level head and listen to common-sense solutions. I do believe recent tax reform is a step in the right direction towards financial stability in our state, but we will need to continue to address how this burden has grown to touch every citizen in Kentucky. I hope, if elected, that you will reach out to my office to voice your fears and concerns and to offer your thoughts on solutions to this problem.

OUR CONSERVATIVE VALUES

  • Protect Life from Conception Forward
I believe human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death. I am honored to be endorsed by the Kentucky Right to Life Association, and I agree with their statement of belief: "That every human being has an inalienable right to life, a life that is precious and must be protected."
  • Defend Our Second Amendment Rights
I am a strong proponent and supporter of the law-abiding individual’s right to keep and bear arms to protect life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. While the 2nd Amendment protects an individual’s right to keep and bear arms for recreation, hunting, and self-defense, the primary reason the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Kentucky enshrine our God-given gun rights is to protect our families, state, and nation from government tyranny.
I am proud to have received the endorsement of the both The Shelby County Ky Gun Owner’s Rights Group and Constitutional Kentucky, and I would be honored by your vote!
  • Fight for our Freedoms
The proper role of government in the United States is to protect and defend the inherent and inalienable rights of “We the People.” Our Founding Fathers included the Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution not to grant those rights but to enshrine the belief that all men are created equal and endowed by God with inalienable rights that are to be protected by the government and not infringed. I will never shy away from standing up for our rights, such as the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom to keep and bear arms.
